Mr. Ross Smeltzer
I was born and raised in Chatham, New York, a village in the northern part of the state. After graduating from high school in 2005, I moved to Dallas and attended Southern Methodist University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 2008. I then attended the University of Chicago, where I studied political science and sociology. I graduated from the school in 2009 with a Masters in Social Sciences.
Since leaving Chicago, I have worked as a market research analyst, an art gallery manager, a writer for a library reference series, a freelance author, and an educator. I taught Advanced Placement World History and Modern United States History at Emmett J. Conrad High School between 2015 and 2017. The 2017-2018 school year will be my first year at the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet. I will be teaching AP World History and AP Seminar, a new course offering that gives students the tools they will need to conduct rigorous academic research at the university level.
